Diffusion analysis application (DANA)

DANA returns the best fitting diffusivity and solubility, their product being the permeability, of a permeation test. The application utilizes the estimate of the diffusivity, as well as the user defined thickness, to infer the remaining duration of the test.

The pressure response of the recipient chamber is, using the ideal gas law, modelled as Fickain diffusion through a sheet of constant thickness, cross sectional area, diffusivity and solubility. The fitting routine utilized by DANA is found at:

The API is documented here.

Adding tests

New tests are added by navigating to the Test tab; where the specific material and gas utilized in the test can be chosen. A datafile matching the format below is required, and the user can either input a sample thickness or utilize the thickness specified in said datafile. Additional remarks regarding the specific test are recorded.
Upon adding a new test, the application adds a fit using default models i.e. Henry's approximation and ideal gas fugacity.

Datafile format

The application expects a datafile based on the standard output of the logging computer. An example is shown below:

Adding reports

A report is a collection of fits for a specific material and gas. New reports can be generated by navigating to the Report tab. The diffusivity and solubility are fitted to an Arrhenius model describing their thermal dependence. Using EMTpipe or Pipeflex, the parameters of a report is utilized for prediction of the annulus enviroment.
